Refer-a-Friend

Your best guests bringing the next ones.

Guests & Loyalty

The evening this is about

Your guests already recommend you. They do it in conversation, you never hear about it, and the friend who comes because of it arrives as a stranger. There is nothing wrong with that — except that it is the cheapest marketing in existence and it is entirely invisible to you.

  • A regular brings three friends over a year and is never thanked once.
  • Somebody asks "where did you hear about us" and writes the answer nowhere.
  • The offer for new guests is better than anything the loyal ones get.
  • There is no way to tell a first visit from a fortieth.

What it actually does

  • Gives the guest something simple to pass on — a link or a code, not a paper card.
  • Recognises the friend when they arrive, and thanks the person who sent them.
  • Rewards both sides, in a way you choose, at a value you set.
  • Shows you who actually brings people, which is usually not who you expected.

The detail that matters

Rewarding both sides is what keeps it from feeling like a transaction. A guest who is paid to recommend you starts to sound like someone who is paid to recommend you, and their friends can hear it. A guest whose friend is welcomed properly, and who is thanked for it afterwards, just keeps doing what they were already doing.

What it does not do

  • It does not pay anyone to post about you. That is advertising, it must be declared, and it works less well than it looks.
  • It does not turn your regulars into a sales channel. If the reward is the reason they come, you have bought a customer, not kept one.

We would rather you read this before the call than find out after.

Where it sits

Bringing people back without discounting yourself away. Refer-a-Friend is one of five tools in Guests & Loyalty, and it runs on the same guest, booking and menu data as the rest of the Suite — so nothing is typed in twice.

Fifteen minutes, no slides.

Tell us how your venue runs and we will say plainly whether Refer-a-Friend helps — and which two or three tools to start with.
